Château de Champ de Bataille golf course – Le Neubourg, 1988

Ten years of work have enabled to reveal the splendour of the château called the «Versailles of Normandy», the Château du Champ de Bataille in the town of Neuburg. The project included the restructuring of the park, the enhancement of the forest, the preservation of century-old rhododendrons and the creation of an 18-hole golf course around the castle. By integrating the original perspectives of a French-style garden spread over 150 acres into this course, salles de verdure were created by landforms, hornbeam hedges and stone walls.

A reflecting pool was constructed and large specimens were planted, including many topiary trees. The Champ de Bataille golf course thus presents a good balance: it offers enough variety in the length of the holes, the width of the fairways and the size of the greens. We were commissioned for a second intervention in 2000 to landscape around the clubhouse. A 10 hectare arboretum and fruiticetum was created.
